Greg, my customer tells me that his was awful because his wife's best friend's mother committed suicide that morning. He said her husband of 40 years wrote her a sweet letter and wished her a happy valentine's day then headed off to work. Then after he left she went into the garage and started the car. I guess her son had been trying to get a hold of her so he asked his wife to go check on her.
Super sad, Greg said that she had been fighting depression and she had been taking medication.
I guess I was so shocked that being she was older and seemed to have a very supportive family and husband that she couldn't see that this too will pass. I mean I know that teenagers don't have the life experience to see that it does pass so they seem to be more prone to committing suicide.

KAREN L. MEATH, 64 MACHESNEY PARK - Karen L. Meath, 64, of Machesney Park died peacefully Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, in her home. Born Jan. 20, 1947, in Middlesboro, Ky., the daughter of William H. and Betty L. Harris. Married Michael S. Meath on Jan. 28, 1972, in Rockford. Member of Riverside Community Church. Graduate of Auburn High School in 1965. She was a beautician for many years in the Rockford area and stopped working to start her family. A beautiful loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was kind, considerate, generous and had a heart bigger than life. She will be greatly missed by all, but especially by her grandchildren, who were also her greatest friends. She never met a person she did not like; she loved everyone. She founded "The Birthday Club" in 2006 where the gift of "gab" was practiced for hours on end. She was also a Barista for a short time and a lover of coffee all her life. Survivors include husband, Michael; son, Eric (Jennifer) Meath of Machesney Park; daughter, Monica Booker of Rockford; grandchildren, Cami, Alexis, Jacob, Sydney and Tyler; mother, Betty Lundstrom of Machesney Park; brothers, Dennis D. (Sherry) Harris of Wagoner, Okla., Louis E. Harris of Santee, Calif., and William M. Harris of Richmond; sister, Susan T. (Harry) Darnell of Rockford; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her father. Service at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 21, in Riverside Community Church, 6816 N. Second St.; the Rev. Bobby Sheets will officiate. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
